God-Focused Worship (February 18, 2024)

TODAY:

After God’s Own Heart – Part 4: God-Focused Worship

BIG IDEA:

If we want to follow after God’s heart, we need to worship Him

by focusing on God, not on ourselves

SCRIPTURES:

2 Samuel 6, Psalm 68

DISCUSSION QUESTIONS:

Q: Have you ever received a giftthat seemed like it wasn’t meant for you, or

was more about the giver than you? What happened, and how did you

respond?

Q: How do the Scriptures/concepts from this week help you grow as a disciple

who loves God, loves people & serves the world (lives on incarnational

mission) in everyday life?

Q: Based on these Scriptures, how can you move from unbelief to belief, from

just knowing to actually doing in your life?

Q: When you think about worship, what comes to mind? A service with

others? An action?

Q: What does a life of worship look like?

Q: The passage reminded us that worship is God-focused, not self-focused. Do

you ever find yourself desiring a worship service for what you get out of it,

instead of offering something to Jesus? Are there times it might be

appropriate to expect or need or want to receive something from a worship

service?

Q: It can be hard to find ways to worship God on our own. Share ideas,

moments, activities, habit, disciplines, anything in your life that has helped

you worship Jesus to encourage each other as we strive to live God-focused

lives

Q: How does true, God-focused worship, empower us to serve people God

puts in our lives?
